Privacy Policy for GlassFit

Last Updated: [DATE, e.g., October 26, 2023]

Our Commitment to Your Privacy

Welcome to GlassFit! We are dedicated to protecting your privacy and handling your data with transparency and respect. This policy explains what information we handle and why. Our guiding principle is simple: your photos and personal data belong to you and are stored on your own computer.

Information We Handle (and Where It's Stored)

GlassFit is designed to be a "local-first" application. This means almost all of your data lives securely within your browser on your device.

How We Use Your Information: The AI Try-On Process

To perform the AI-powered virtual try-on, we need to process your images. Here is exactly what happens when you click "Run Try-On":

  1. Your chosen reference photo and the eyewear image are sent securely to our AI processing server.
  2. Our AI model processes the images in memory to generate the try-on result.
  3. Crucially, these images are NOT saved or stored on our servers. They are discarded immediately after the processing is complete.
  4. The final try-on image is sent back to the extension and saved locally on your device in your history.

We only transmit this data for the sole purpose of providing the core feature of the extension. We do not use it for any other reason.

Why We Need Browser Permissions

When you install GlassFit, your browser asks you to approve certain permissions. Here is a clear explanation of why each one is necessary for the extension to work:

storage

Purpose: To save your photos, eyewear collection, and settings on your computer. This is essential for keeping your data private and local.

activeTab

Purpose: To get the title and URL of the page you're on when you save a pair of glasses. This helps you remember where you found an item in your collection.

contextMenus

Purpose: To add the "Add to GlassFit Collection" option to your right-click menu on images. This is the core feature that lets you easily save eyewear from any website.

sidePanel

Purpose: To display the main interface of the extension where you manage your photos, collection, and see your try-on results.

clipboardWrite

Purpose: To enable the "Copy" button, which allows you to copy your final try-on image to your clipboard to easily share it.

host_permissions: ["<all_urls>"]

Purpose: To allow the right-click "Add to GlassFit Collection" menu to appear on any website you visit. The extension does not read or change any websites; this permission is only used to enable the context menu everywhere.

Data Security

We rely on the built-in security of your web browser and the operating system to keep your locally stored data safe. All communication with our AI server for try-on processing is encrypted via HTTPS.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
